I was born and raised in Port Elizabeth South Africa. My love for photography started at a very young age. I was one of the lucky few who knew exactly what I wanted to do with my life.
After finishing school, I studied photography at the University of N.M.M.U in Port Elizabeth, where I completed my Bachelors Degree in Photography in 2007.
In my final year I created a photo illustrated children’s book illustrating poems by Victorian poet Christina Rosetti. The illustrations were made using photography, scans, and drawing and knitting them together in Photoshop.
In 2008 I took my interest in travel, and my photography qualifications, and joined the cruise industry as a portrait photographer, in which I worked for 8 years. During this time I was so blessed to have seen all 7 continents, meet and work with many different nationalities and to travel to over 200 different places!
For 4 of the 8 years I worked in the high end photo studio on-board, as the studio photographer/artist specialising in beautifully lit black and white portraiture. The experience of running a studio and capturing many wonderful moments and stories will always be special for me.
In 2014 I met my husband on-board ship. He works as a Staff Engineer. We later got married on-board ship, and just a few months later I left the cruise industry and moved to the UK to set up our home. We live in a beautiful little village in Shropshire. In September 2016 all our prayers were answered when we had our beautiful little girl Lily! Lily has been my little model for many photo sessions now! She has become quite the expert!!
As I am relatively new to the UK I am starting out as such, but rest assured I am a fully qualified, experienced portrait photographer who is eagerly awaiting to photograph your little one and your family. I specialise in on location natural light photography. Sessions either take place in your home, or at a location of your choice within the Shropshire area.
As a new mum, I saw a demand for a newborn photographer who would come to your home, as traveling so soon after having a baby can be too much! I ended up having an emergency C-Section with Lily and travel was just not an option… I understand completely!
As well as natural light portraiture I am offering bespoke art pieces where we can place your baby, or child within a different environment. The possibilities are endless, so please if you have any ideas or interest in such do contact me!
Oh and my name ‘BoopBoop photography’ comes from the noise I make when I take photos ‘BoopBoopBoop’, also the urban dictionary defines BoopBoop as a friendly greeting or something one says when they are excited about something… Just in case you wondered where the name came from 🙂
Hoping to capture your special memories with your family soon!
